LIFT OFF
The geese which roost in autumn on the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust Reserve at Martin Mere, near Burscough (mostly pink-footed but probably with some greylags among them) usually fly to their feeding grounds fairly early in the morning, so I was surprised on this day to see many of them still on the reserve in mid-morning. I was also fortunate to be in the right position for this shot when they did suddenly take off en masse at almost midday.
